Synopsis: Lee has decided to leave her husband, Bob, for six weeks to assert her independence and has secured accommodation with two girls in a New York apartment. Bob follows her there but cannot persuade her to return to him. At that time, however, she had met only one of her room-mates, Pat, who appears dressed as Shirley Temple. Pat tells her she obtained the costume from the landlord, Simon, whose particular hobby is wearing such costumes. A greater shock awaits both girls with the appearance of Tracy, for Tracy is no girl but a good-looking male student. 'My God' says Lee, 'that dumb agency'. But they realise that to inform Simon - with his peculiar tastes - would simply mean the two girls being ejected rather than the handsome boy. Lots are drawn for the apportioning of sleeping accommodation, Pat comes and goes in a series of fantastic costumes from Simon, and an exciting if unusual time is had by all, including Bob, from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, by which time things have worked out, at least for Bob and Lee.

Synopsis: Detective Superintendent Harry Baxter is plagued by a head cold and two busybodies - a corpse that vanishes and the officious office cleaner, Mrs Piper, who found it. Trying to glean facts from the morass of Mrs Piper's chatty verbosity requires all Baxter's never large store of tact and patience. Motives for murder abound - all the office staff and the corpse's wife are suspect. His self-control snaps completely when the corpse himself walks in alive and well. But Mrs Piper still insists that there was a body, though she no longer knows whose. Baxter is persuaded to continue his investigations, enthusiastically hindered by Mrs Piper. However, it is she who finally identifies both corpse and murderer and actually obtains a confession. Very typically she then tidies the office and throws away the confession.

Synopsis: It’s early morning in the Lowery household. Ethel, the mother, is busy in the kitchen preparing a special dinner for the return of her youngest son, Eric. Ethel has a lot to contend with her slightly dysfunctional family. Grant, Eric’s older brother has been booted out of home by his wife and now sleeps on his mum’s couch. Her father is slipping rapidly into Alzheimer’s and he has the habit of running into the street stark naked. Living with Ethel and Hugh, her husband, is Tessa, her daughter and her husband Doug. Doug and Hugh just don’t get on. Hugh was excited when Tessa informed him she was getting married. “Great,” he thought, “I’ll turn her room into my pool room.” This soon turned to despair when he learned Tessa and Doug were going to live at his house. Tessa informs the family she has a new job with one of the Television Studios. Hugh tries to talk her out of it. In his opinion all the people in the theatrical world are, in his words, “Queer.” Hugh is very homophobic. He is always criticizing Grant for not being as good as Eric in everything he does. Eric is his father’s blue-eyed boy. Before going overseas he was captain of the footy team and the cricket team and is referred to by his Dad as the “Champ”. At school, Eric was an “A” grade student. A son to be proud of. However, will Hugh feel the same way when Eric brings home his little surprise?

Synopsis: T he play is set in England in the early fifteenth century. The political situation in England is tense: King Henry IV has died, and his son, the young King Henry V, has just assumed the throne. Several bitter civil wars have left the people of England restless and dissatisfied. Furthermore, in order to gain the respect of the English people and the court, Henry must live down his wild adolescent past, when he used to consort with thieves and drunkards at the Boar’s Head Tavern on the seedy side of London.

Henry lays claim to certain parts of France, based on his distant roots in the French royal family and on a very technical interpretation of ancient land laws. When the young prince, or Dauphin, of France sends Henry an insulting message in response to these claims, Henry decides to invade France. Supported by the English noblemen and clergy, Henry gathers his troops for war.

Henry’s decision to invade France trickles down to affect the common people he rules. In the Boar’s Head Tavern in Eastcheap, some of the king’s former friends—whom he rejected when he rose to the throne—prepare to leave their homes and families. Bardolph, Pistol, and Nim are common lowlifes and part-time criminals, on the opposite end of the social spectrum from their royal former companion. As they prepare for the war, they remark on the death of Falstaff, an elderly knight who was once King Henry’s closest friend.

Just before his fleet sets sail, King Henry learns of a conspiracy against his life. The three traitors working for the French beg for mercy, but Henry denies their request. He orders that the trio, which includes a former friend named Scrope, be executed. The English sail for France, where they fight their way across the country. Against incredible odds, they continue to win after conquering the town of Harfleur, where Henry gives an impassioned speech to motivate his soldiers to victory. Among the officers in King Henry’s army are men from all parts of Britain, such as Fluellen, a Welsh captain. As the English advance, Nim and Bardolph are caught looting and are hanged at King Henry’s command.

The climax of the war comes at the famous Battle of Agincourt, at which the English are outnumbered by the French five to one. The night before the battle, King Henry disguises himself as a common soldier and talks to many of the soldiers in his camp, learning who they are and what they think of the great battle in which they have been swept up. When he is by himself, he laments his ever-present responsibilities as king. In the morning, he prays to God and gives a powerful, inspiring speech to his soldiers. Miraculously, the English win the battle, and the proud French must surrender at last. Some time later, peace negotiations are finally worked out: Henry will marry Catherine, the daughter of the French king. Henry’s son will be the king of France, and the marriage will unite the two kingdoms.
