Vision Australia - Volunteer Book Narrators Wanted at Kooyong, Melbourne
Vision Australia is now seeking volunteers of varying age groups (18 or over) to narrate a range of fiction and non-fiction books for its library services.
Vision Australia's Audio Production Unit produces a wide range of audio books for people who are blind or who have low vision. Books in audio format are extremely popular among our clients and include novel, short stories biographies, histories and many other genres.
Solid knowledge of English Literature and English expression, accuracy and excellent concentration skills as well as sound research skills is mandatory. Readers must be versatile and efficient. Background in radio and/or theatre would be an advantage. Volunteers will be expected to be available for 3-hour recording session, 2-4 sessions for week, for up to 3 weeks per book.
Recruitment process includes, initial telephone interview, audition, training and volunteer induction.
Potential volunteers will be required to send in a voice recording featuring short samples of fiction and non-fiction narration, in either cassette, CD or mp3 format.
